Great Food

Firstly, I'd like to say that out of all the Mediterranean restaurants all over Birmingham, this one tasted and felt the most authentic. The food was awesome, and the family running it was extremely friendly and approachable. I had a gyro plate which was a pretty large serving and tasted amazing. My friend had a gyro sandwich with fries which looked equally as good if not maybe even better. The hummus was also great. The owners were extremely friendly and joked around while maintaining a smile the whole time. The music kind of sucked though. TVs were a little loud too. When the place got busy, they seemed to be a bit shorthanded, but that didn't affect us. Overall a pretty good experience, but better to catch them outside of the lunch rush.

Worth it-GO!

I ate here with a friend and loved it. I was craving the gyro the next week so took my 16 and 12 year old children with me. I was nervous that they wouldn't like it.....they ordered the gyros too because I had raved about it. They both cleaned their plate. We ordered both types of baklava and both were delicious!

Great Food

Great food and large portions for the really good price. Best food in the area by far! I have tried almost everything and it is wonderful. I love the way they season and prepare the tilapia. Kibby is another favor-ite of mine. If you haven't tried it, you should go.

Great Food and People

I just happened upon The Pita Cafe on day and needed a quick bite. I ordered the lamb gyro. I have nev-er had such tender, juicy meat . This was seasoned perfectly and was a good amount of fixins' as well. It was served with a large amount of seasoned fries. The best ten dollars i have spent in quite awhile. But in addition to the food being so good the company was even better. This is a great Greek family. In just a few minutes of talking to the owner while waiting for my order I was given the gift of renewed faith in the goodness of people. I will surely go there again and take friends. Thanks to Pita Cafe for a blessing.

Vegan review

I'm eating vegan right now and they have wonderful food. Best hummus in town.

Cool owner

The food is great here, not over priced, and the owner is cool.

Glad Vacation Is Over!!!

The restaurant was closed for a couple of weeks while the owners enjoyed a much deserved vacation! Good Gravy I am glad they are open again. Kafta! Tabouli! Gyro! Chicken! Try it all. There is none other like it and I have tried almost all of them. Do yourself a favor and visit this lively and engaging family for the best Middle Eastern food. Period.

Really good!

Very tasty falafel sandwich with a side of tabouli. The tahini based sauce sufficiently moistened the thin pita bread and the crisp falafel while adding a layer of fancy deliciousness to this simple lunch. Having a choice between fries, rice or tabouli as a side makes a huge difference. After having fresh, acidic tabouli for lunch you can step into 90 F weather feeling fresh and far from greasy. Not my usual stomping grounds and it had been a while since I went. Today I had to drop of a car at Toyota and stopped for lunch. This family owned gem made an instant return onto my lunch list.

Delicious!

We ventured over to hoover hoping to eat at Tortuga's but turns out they closed for Spring Break. Pita Cafe is located next door so we decided to give it a shot. We got the gyro sandwich and the gyro plate. The plates are pricier but they come with so much food! Fruit, tabouli, tons of tender lamb, generous sauce, pita bread, fruit. Definitely worth it, and delicious!

I've only had one dish, but it's tasty

I longed for the Kafta Special when they closed in Wildwood. I had no idea they had relocated to Hoover until fairly recently. DELICIOUS! And they always have a great health rating and are very friendly. Don't know if I can recommend based on one dish, but from what I've had, you cannot go wrong at this place. Also, the owners seem to be very friendly. I caught a glimpse of the kitchen, too and from what I could see, it is clean, neat and well organized.

Great Hummus Great Service!

I loved the home made hummus and the owner was very amiable. I highly recommend this place.

Great

Pita Cafe is a great, laid back family restaurant. We have gotten to know the owners just by frequenting the restaurant. Their chicken plate and hummus dip are very good!

Great place! Great food and

service!

Chicken special, Gyros, steak n sak, and burgers are some of my favorites but everything is good. They also have great homemade humus...

Best Gyro Plate I've Had

Tiny little mom and pop place. I always get the Gyro plate with Tabooli. Tabooli. Good stuff. Try it! Gyro plate comes out with pita bread, rice, sauce, a slice of orange/pineapple/cantalope. The meat is tender and juicy. Not crispy brown, although I occasionally like that style as well.

The Pita Cafe specializes in

Mediterranean dishes.

This is a small family run restaurant that is located in the same strip mall as Tortugas. The owners are friendly and provide personal service. The health rating on the last visit was a perfect 100.

I have had the Gyro wrap and

Gyro plate and would highly

recommend both.

The Gyro meat is sliced into thin strips and is tender and flavorful. I also recommend the Shrimp special. The shrimp is seasoned and grilled with fresh mushrooms and onions. The Tabouli salad is very yummy. It consist of fresh curly parsley, tomatoes, and onions. It is chopped and mixed with a a little tangy dressing.

First time eating at the Pita Cafe

today!

The hummus was some of the best I've ever eaten and the tabooli and grilled shrimp and veggies were perfectly seasoned. The hospitality was great and the atmosphere was much warmer than the strip mall exterior would lead you to expect. Definitely will go back.

I've been going to The Pita Cafe

for almost 10 years!

The homos dip is the very very best I have ever had. My friend even had them cater some for her wedding! 4 stars because the service is usually a little slow. Most of the time its just the owner serving you. He is so personable! I love all the Mediterranean fare, tilapia pita wraps, tabouli, and the baklava is authentic rating and fresh. It will continue to be one of my staple eateries in Hoover.

Delicious. Clean. Tastes

homemade.

Honestly, before, I was not a huge fan of Mediterranean food, but I really like this place! Service is great and they seem to care about keeping their customers happy. I've never been disappointed. Hint: Check out the Kafta special. Yummy! And the Hummus is perfect!
